New Technology for Lasik Surgery

Mostly everyone knows what Lasik Eye Surgery is.  Many people are turning to Lasik so they never have to go through the hassle of wearing glasses or putting in contacts everyday.   Recently, eye doctors (Opthamologists) have made new software that can analyze the shape of the cornea which will re-adjust the laser during surgery to  make an even more customized surgery. 

It is so amazing that in a few minutes, this surgery had a patient named kelli Tette saying, “I can see so much better than I ever did even with my glasses or contacts on.”    With the ‘old’ Lasik Surgery, about 20% of patients were still a little farsighted after surgery,  but now that percentage drops to 2% and they are also less likely to need a touch up after the first one.

wall street ‘tsunami’!?

I was looking on Google News for my blog post for today and immediately was drawn to this article.

I found tha some so-called bad data hurt Wall Street – not good.  Alan Greenspan called it a once in a century ‘tsunami’.   He blamed the ‘tsunami’ on inadequate data.  As you probably know, computer technology is a very important part of Wall Street in more ways than one.  Crashes in computers do not happen very often with the technology that Wall Street has, that is why it was such a problem.

 ”Business decisions by financial services firms were based on “the best insights of mathematicians and finance experts, supported by major advances in computer and communications technology,” Greenspan told the committee. “The whole intellectual edifice, however, collapsed in the summer of last year because the data inputted into the risk management models generally covered only the past two decades a period of euphoria.”

Those working at Wall Street are trying to figure out how to fix this and how to prevent it from happening again.  The only suggestion as of now is to have ‘more aggressive law enforcement.’

Did you know that Apple has come out with a new computer/laptop!?

Neither did I.  This new notebook has a low new price (lower than the usual price for macs that is) and doesn’t lack any of the attributes that mac people love.  This new laptop starts at $1,200, which is still more than the laptop that I bought for college.

Apple also came out with a new 24″ computer with all of the amenities that a mac should and usually does have.

As for another mac fact, the iPhone was named 2008 Gaget of the Year.
